Beauregard Tonic

Light and refreshing, berry flavors, but not too sweet.

• 12 blueberries
• 5 basil leaves
• 2 oz zero-proof gin
• 4 oz light tonic water
• purple basil for garnish

Muddle blueberries and basil leaves in the bottom of a cocktail shaker. Add ice. Add gin and tonic water. Stir gently. Strain into a coupe glass and garnish with basil.

This is really just a variation on a gin and tonic, but I like that the blueberries cut the bitterness of the tonic. Plus, it’s pretty.

I looked up whether a drink had been named after Violet Beauregard already, and of course one (several) had. But most had citrus and none had tonic, so the Beauregard Tonic was born.
